PlayStation gamers have been mocking Xbox Live players about the latter’s need to purchase a subscription in order to play online games – until Sony introduced a similar pay-to-play model with the release of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Plus.
Sony announced last night that South African PlayStation Plus subscribers will now have to fork over more than half of the original price to keep the benefits.
“Due to various market conditions, the price of your PlayStation Plus subscription is going to rise slightly. On 01/10/2014 the price of a 3 month subscription will rise from R145 to R219,” Sony said in a letter to current subscribers. The price change comes into effect today.
Below is a breakdown of Sony’s new PlayStation Plus subscription fees. In comparison, we have done a roundup of Microsoft’s Xbox Live subscription prices across the country, and the price difference is rather stark:
PlayStation Plus Subscription | |||
