Shadow of Mordor gets its own Photo Mode

Publisher Warner Bros. has just announced via press release that the console versions of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor now have a Photo Mode.

So now not only can you dispatch orcs in the most brutal fashion imaginable with Talion’s trusty weapons, you can snap specially-composed pictures of him doing it, joining names like The Last of Us and Forza 4/5/Horizon in their support of the ego-boosting gratification that comes with capturing in-game moments and sharing them with the world.

Since you can already take pictures with the PlayStation 4’s Share function this feature may not immediately grab you, but it’s more than just another way to snap pics: Photo Mode will let you freeze the action, rotate the camera to a suitable angle and zoom in or out to your heart’s content in order to frame the perfect shot. You can also adjust the depth of field, expand the field of view and even add filters and frames to make your photos truly unique.

Activating it is as simple as navigating the game’s menu, going to Settings and ensuring that Photo Mode is active. You’ll also see its default activation button. Once you’ve done that, just get Talion into whatever hairy situation you’d like to capture, press that button and start composing. Once you’re done, share it to Facebook or Twitter to show off your handiwork.

The update is live for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, and “will be available very soon” for PC.
