The dual SIM, selfie taking Lumia 730 launches in SA

A mobile phone that supports two SIM cards is not something you hear often when talking about smartphones coming to South Africa. But today, Microsoft and Cell C announced the launch of the Lumia 730 which has the exciting dual SIM functionality we first heard about at Mobile World Congress.

The Lumia has a 4.7 inch 720p display and is powered by 1GB RAM and a 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. It has 8GB of onboard storage with a microSD card slot to expand it by up to 128GB after-the-fact. The rear camera is a 6.7 megapixel unit with Carl Zeiss optics and a front facing 5 megapixel camera for the selfie concious among us.

It may look a lot like the Lumia 720, but the 730 has something real special on the inside.

It’s running on the latest update to the Windows Phone operating system called Lumia Denim which brings a host of new functionality including Live Tile updating folders and an updated camera interface that brings together more of Nokia’s separate camera features into one app for all future Lumia models.

The Lumia 730 dual SIM will be available before the end of October  for R4 499 cash or R229/month from Cell C on the Smart Chat 1GB package which comes with 25 minutes of airtime per month and 512MB of anytime data with an additional 512MB of night-time data usable from midnight to 6AM per month.

Cell C will also be launching the Lumia 530 dual SIM smartphone a few weeks after the Lumia 730 for just  R1 499 for those looking for two SIM support at a lower cost.
