Can science can help improve SA’s education system?

Every year towards final exams time, the spotlight falls on the quality of education in South Africa, with many arguing that our education system has dropped in quality, or still has a very long way to go despite the slight improvement in matric results.

In an early bid to help frame this year’s discussion, Wits Radio Academy has just posted an episode of its regular feature, “The Science Inside”, exploring how scientific research can help government, educators and learners improve the education system.

The guest on the show is Prof Elizabeth Henning, director at the Centre for Education Practice and Research at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus. It’s well worth listening to via Soundcloud (below).
