Bing introduces ability to search using emoji

Social networks have managed to revolutionise our lives by showing instead of telling, all thanks to emoji. And now it looks like Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, is capitalising on the language of emoji by introducing the ability to search using ideograms.

“Today, we are announcing the support of emoji characters in Bing search in all English markets.  With this new feature, you can search using your favourite emoji, and Bing will return results based on the semantic meaning of the emoji,” the company says on its blog.

And if you don’t know the meaning of an individual emoji, you can also look up by posting it into the search bar.

You can also have a bit of and combine emoji with words in a search and Bing will pull up the same results as it would if you had used words only.

Emoji-3Bing isn’t the only search engine that allows you to search using emoji, Yahoo was actually the first to introduce the feature while Google is yet to catch up with its rivals.
