Spark SA looking for outstanding social entrepreneurs for 2015 Accelerator programme

Spark, an international programme with branches around the world that offers support and workshops, is looking its next batch of startup-savvy entrepreneurs that aim to help alleviate poverty nationwide to join its 2015 Spark South Africa Changemakers Programme.

The Spark Changemakers Programme offers fifteen social entrepreneurs the opportunity to take part in a five-day Accelerator week where they’ll receive training, and up to three years of free legal, business, graphic design web and research support as well as access to quick injections of funding for their ventures.

To qualify for the Spark Changemakers Programme, you must fall under the following criteria:

  • Have already launched a social enterprise that is already making a difference in the lives of tens of people living in poverty.
  • Be the founder of that social enterprise.
  • Want to scale their social enterprise to impact many more people living in poverty.
  • Be individuals who can get things done, and they have proven this in the past.
  • Be massively passionate about improving the lives of people living in poverty in Kenya or South Africa.

At the Spark Accelerator, you will learn about:

  • Strategy
  • How to determine and report on the impact you are having
  • How to secure funding
  • Pitching, public speaking and networking
  • How to stay at peak performance to be super effective as a Changemaker
  • Innovation tools

The facilitator for the 2015 intake is Aaron Tait, co-founder and CEO of Spark and founder of Education Changemakers.

“The Spark* Accelerator is not a regular leadership or business training program. This means that you will have lots of focused time to really hone down on your project. This will be big picture thinking. Your brain will hurt, your model will likely change a lot and you will need to work hard! Again, we provide awesome support for you throughout the week,” reads the Spark South Africa website.

Applications close on the 5th November and you can submit your application on the Spark South Africa website.
