After leaving his position at Microsoft as managing director for South Africa in July after six years of service, Mteto Nyati has taken up a position at mobile service provider MTN as a member of the executive committee. Nyati was replaced by Zoaib Hoosen.

MTN didn’t reveal too many details, simply saying that he will be responsible for MTN’s enterprise and ICT strategy.

“This newly created role is in line with our strategy to further leverage our integrated ICT offerings. Mteto will be a member of the group executive committee and will take responsibility for leading the group-wide enterprise and ICT strategy, and to enhance MTN’s position in the enterprise segment,” MTN said in a media statement.

After Nyati vacated his job as managing director, he was appointed to a new position within the company to develop and implement growth strategies for the emerging markets within the Middle East and Africa region.
