Jawbone set to launch new fitness trackers soon

The world of fitness tracking is heating up as every brand frantically rushes to get ahead of each other in the race to winning the tech market and Jawbone is not going to be left out in the cold.

The latest rumors from the ever so secretive ‘sources with knowledge’ peg two new models to be inbound from the company, the $50 (R550) MOVE which clips onto clothing and provides basic movement tracking, and the Jawbone UP3, a new flagship fitness tracker that will cost $50 more than the Jawbone UP24 at $180 (R1 990) and will feature constant heart rate tracking as one of its core features.

Microsoft and Fitbit have been in the news lately with their latest products set to hit the street in the coming weeks both pushing always on heart rate tracking as one of the main features of the Microsoft Band and the Fitbit Charge HR and Surge which has put all sorts of pressure on the rest of the fitness monitoring community to play some serious catch up.

The sources for both The Informer and VentureBeat indicate that the Jawbone UP3 will be chock full of sensors to calculate all sorts of new metrics but that some of the features wouldn’t be available from launch, coming instead with software updates issues over the weeks after the launch as and when they are finished.
