Cape Town, get ready for massive LEGO and Titanic exhibits

LEGO fan? Who isn’t. But if you live in Cape Town or will be around the Mother City this December, it will be really worth your while to pop around to the V&A Watershed Exhibition Centre from 12th December 2014 to end February 2015 – to see how the masters use LEGO bricks to create some of the best works of art imaginable.

The Art of the Brick, having been dubbed the ‘World’s most popular’ LEGO art exhibit’, will feature 70 incredible LEGO art sculptures made from hundreds of thousands of LEGO blocks,” Expo RSA said in a media statement.

Following that, there’s another expo worth sticking in your diary. Artefacts from the Titanic will be displayed at the same venue.

“The exhibition, which includes real artefacts from the sunken ship, takes visitors on a journey through the life of Titanic. Along the way visitors will learn countless stories of heroism and humanity that pay honour to the strength of the human spirit in the face of tragedy,” Expo SA explained.

Titanic – The Artefact Exhibition will have numerous pieces of history on display, including china etched with the logo of the elite White Star Line, and pieces of the ship itself.

The two exhibits form part of Expo RSA’s travelling exhibitions, which has been seen by many visitors across the world.

“Travelling exhibitions have proven massively successful in Europe and the USA in previous years, and we are excited to have secured some of these incredible exhibitions to head to South Africa in the next year”, said Marius Basson, CEO at Expo RSA.

“We look forward to adding a South African flavour to each exhibit, and to creating an experience that is both memorable and enjoyable for individuals of all ages and walks of life”.

Tickets for The Art of the Brick are available on Computicket for R140, and the exhibition takes place at V&A Waterfront in Cape Town from 12th to 13th December.
