See the Halo 5 multiplayer beta in action

So you’ve bought the Master Chief Collection, you all fired up about the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta and you’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 29th of December so you can start playing.

What if I told you that you could see it in action right now? Would that make you happy?

Well then, I am pleased to tell you that’s exactly what you can do. 343 Industries and Microsoft held a preview event in London recently where they showed off the multiplayer beta, and GamersHQMedia was lucky enough to be there. They brought back five glorious minutes’ worth of footage showing Halo 5’s multiplayer in action, and it looks pretty good.

Despite my lack of Halo-fandom, I know fun when I see it and the Guardians multiplayer beta looks pretty sweet. I’m especially fond of the Unreal Tournament-esque cries of “Hat Trick!”, “Double Kill!” and “Killing Spree!” from the commentator, and the gunplay looks decent.

VG247 has an excellent analysis of what they know of the multiplayer beta and 343’s approach to developing this new Halo based on their time with it at the London event; it’s a long read but well worth it.

You’ll get the lowdown on the beta’s inclusion of rocket-assisted jumps and slams, how 343 is designing the game to be eSports-friendly and also why they have moved back to an approach that puts players on an even footing in every round, rather than carrying on with Halo 4’s uneven loadouts that left players unsure of what they’d be facing in multiplayer.

Just over a month and a half to wait for December 29, fans.
