3D print on demand shop opens up in Cape Town

The world of 3D printing is getting bigger by the month, as more consumers realise that printing figures, and sculptures and objects from melting plastic are not only really cool, but it can also save them a fortune if they had to buy an original part.

And if you don’t have a printer, don’t worry – there’ll always be someone close by who does. Cape Town-based printing shop Wizardz Design & Print, for example, has become the latest print-on-demand store thanks to a partnership with manufacturing company Rabbit.

“At Rabbit, we’ve always had the desire to expose 3D printing and Digital Manufacturing to everyone who is interested in exploring their inner ability to create,” Rabbit founder Harry Ravelomanantsoa, told News24.

The company will 3D print almost anything that you can come up with, and if you supply them with a design that you have downloaded from the internet, the printing prices start from R100 for a small design. According to News24, the biggest project that they have printed so far was an architectural model to the value of R10 000.

“The future of retail digital printing has taken an interesting turn. We are so excited with the prospect of working with Harry and his wonderfully creative team from Rabbit to provide the general public with direct interactive access to this amazing technology,” said Andrew Pittaway, owner of Wizardz Design & Print.
