Anti-piracy measures are getting really clever these days, and Ubisoft is the latest big company to try their hand at it.
Far Cry 4’s creative director tweeted the following yesterday, the day of the game’s worldwide launch:
PC players! If you're online complaining about the lack of FOV control … You pirated the game.

Naturally, this prompted a flurry of “discussions” on Hutchinson’s Twitter timeline, and by discussions I mean flames from PC players angry over what they perceive as Ubisoft’s lack of commitment to their preferred platform. Many cite things like how badly Watch_Dogs was ported, problems with the latest Assassin’s Creed and Ubisoft’s DRM platform uPlay as reasons for pirating.

@BangBangClick Clever. But maybe some of them pirated the game because they couldn't play the one they paid for thanks to Uplay (?)

Is this a clever anti-piracy move by Ubisoft, or a bad-faith tactic by a company that doesn’t care about the PC? Let us know what you think.
