Snapplify scoops international innovation award for ebook distribution solution

Africa’s largest ebook aggregator, Snapplify, recently beat seven other big players in ebook publishing to win the Best Tech Innovation award at the FutureBook Innovation Awards held in London.

Considered one of the highest awards in publishing, the FutureBook Innovation Awards recognise innovation in the digital publishing space.

Snapplify scooped an award for its recently-released ebook distribution hardware. SnappBox, a hardware distribution solution for ebooks, allows users to access ebooks using intranet as opposed to downloading ebooks individually via the internet.

SnappBox gives publishers a direct channel to distribute to a wider market as their reach is extended to all schools, including those in rural areas and those without stable internet infrastructure.

“We were impressed by Snapplify on many levels – the importance of the problems they are solving, the technology they are building to do so, and the elegance of how they deliver content where bandwidth is limited or not available at all,” said FutureBook Awards judge and CTO of ePubDirect, Joe Lennon.

“SnappBox technology is changing the way South African students learn and making the problem of accessibility of textbooks a thing of the past,” said Mark Seabrook, digital director at Penguin Random House SA.

“Publishers can now get their eBooks to students via one centralised platform, where they can read eBooks, make notes and save everything safely to the cloud. Snapplify removes the barrier to entry for publishers, making the process smooth and easy for both publisher and student.”
