Tales from the Borderlands out today for PC, Xbox One tomorrow, everyone else next week

Remember that really cool trailer we posted a while back showing off Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games’ Borderlands-themed adventure?

Well, after being rather cagey about the game’s release date – saying only that it would be out in Q4 2014 – Telltale has dropped a bomb: it’s out today on Steam. Not right at this very moment (I just checked), but Eurogamer has reported that sometime today the game will unlock, probably 10am Eastern Time, better-known as 8pm South African time and (in my house, certainly) “the time Steam updates its specials”.

The first episode can be bought for $5 (R55), and if you preorder the whole season right now you can get it for $22.49 (R250).

Gamers on other platforms will have to wait a bit longer. Eurogamer says that Xbox One gamers get it tomorrow and it will become available to everyone else (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360) on the 3rd of December. Android and iOS ports are still expected by the end of the year, but no further information is available on those.

Tales from the Borderlands follows Telltale’s successful storytelling formula, and follows several characters (some old, some new) around the sci-fi world of Pandora in a story that spans five episodes, each released a few months after the last, and it looks like a hoot.

In fact, we enjoyed the trailer for the game so much that here it is again. Enjoy!
