Code4CT relaunches campaign to fund coding school for girls

In October Innovate South Africa’s Code4CT programme announced it was getting ready to enrol 25 school girls from disadvantaged areas in Cape Town for its coding programme and launched a local crowdfunding campaign on Thundafund.

While that campaign managed to pass its tipping point goal of R5000, it won’t reach full funding (R82 000) so Code4CT is again turning to the internet for help with a new campaign on Indiegogo.

The Code4CT Indiegogo campaign was launched yesterday and aims to raise $7 500 (about R76 000) in the next 30 days. So far $260 has been raised.

The funding will go towards running the two-week programme in January, covering costs for trainers, equipment, transport for the girls, and fees for the campaign.

Part of the money will also be used to support the girls who show the most promise and are invited to join to the year-long codeX Academy sponsored by Mxit.

Through Code4CT and the codeX Academy, these young girls get an amazing opportunity to learn practical skills that are easily transferable to a job one day.

You can help contribute to this brilliant initiative by backing Code4CT programme on Indiegogo.
