Trouble finding a babysitter this holiday? Here’s an SA app you might want to crowdfund

Bianca Steyn has been passionate about babysitting since she was a teen, which is why she started Sitters4U in 2007, knowing how important proper childcare is to mothers looking for someone trustworthy to look after their kids.

Steyn is now looking to launch a similar service in the form of an app call SitSnapp, which parents can use to call on the services of a babysitter quickly and efficiently. And in order to get the app developed, SitSnapp has launched a campaign on Thundafund to raise money through crowdfunding.

“We want to give our clients access to only the best, professionally pre-vetted childcare staff. With as little as 30 minutes to spare we want to make booking your babysitter simple, anytime. Scroll, roll, click and book, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” reads the SitSnapp page on Thundafund.

According to the campaign page, parents can use SitSnapp any time of the day, 365 days a year, to call on the services of a fully pre-vetted sitter.

“We want to provide peace of mind to parents across the country whilst formalizing an informal sector, creating stability and massive work opportunity for thousands of dedicated childcare professionals across the country,” the company says.

SitSnapp is looking for R650 000 to fund its first six months running costs, which include hiring 10 staff employees and setting up a head office. So far, R900 has been raised and funding closes on 8th January 2015.
