Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship offers funding for women studying ICT

In effort to encourage women to excel in STEM subjects Google, through the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship, is offering support to women in Africa, Europe and the Middle-East in their senior studies in an ICT-related field.

The scholarship honours late Doctor Anita Borg, a pioneer in computer science who founded the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology to further Borg’s vision of breaking the barriers that keep women (and other minority groups) around the world from entering computing and technology.

Women enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters or PhD programme (or equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, informatics, or a closely related technical field at any university can apply for the 2014/2015 scholarship.

Finalists who maintain excellent academic records, have leadership experience and demonstrate a passion for computer science will be chosen to receive €7 000 (around R96 000) in funding.

The closing date for the submission of applications is 2nd February 2015 – finalists will be notified in April 2015 – and applications must be submitted to the Google Scholarship Program website.

For more information, you can visit the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship website.
