Orange South Africa is launching a retail store in Cape Town in January

Until now Orange has been operating in South Africa through its online store but come January 2015 South African customers will be able to walk into a retail store in Claremont in Cape Town from January 2015. The store replaces the retail presence that Orange lost when Nashua Mobile shuttered its doors.

The stores will have a selection of gadgets and accessories that are sold through the online store for customers to play with before buying and will also serve as a collection point for online orders. The retail store will act as a drop off and pickup point for repairs and will include a range of Orange’s other products including its Travel SIMs as well as Top Up vouchers for the SIMs.

The Orange Store will also be adding new Apple products to its catalogue which will join the refurbished units that the store already sells. The Apple stock is all from local suppliers whether from the Core Group or one of the mobile network operators which means that warranties will be local.

At the moment the Orange store’s stock is 90% imported but they are trying to get that number down to around 60% by the end of June next year to help with the warranty experience that customers have. Products from Samsung don’t get the benefits of the local ADH warranty and free WiFi with AlwaysOn which has had left some customers upset.
