Telkom’s 150Mbps LTE-A launches in 5 more suburbs

It’s been a little under a month since Telkom launched its 150Mbps LTE-Advanced in Parkview in Johannesburg and already the telecoms operator is rolling the service out into five more suburbs across three provinces. The suburbs are Illovo and Melrose in Gauteng, Sea Point and Three Anchor Bay in Cape Town and Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal.

Telkom’s LTE-A service currently only has one deal available with a 36 month contract for R1 399 a month, netting new subscribers an LTE-Advanced router along with a 150Mbps capable connection and a 100GB a month data cap.

Telkom has promised to roll out LTE-A to more than 50 suburbs before the end of March 2015 as a complimentary service to its fibre-to-the-home connectivity, but it also looks like the telecoms firm is facing serious competition over with the like of third party fibre owners like Vumatel.
