#BuildTomorrow and win R1.4 million – the 2015 Hello Tomorrow Challenge is now open

Hello Tomorrow Cape Town, a local branch of the international non-profit Hello Tomorrow organisation, is calling on South African science and tech entrepreneurs to enter the organisation’s 2015 international startup competition for the chance to get global recognition and over R1.4 million in cash.

Hello Tomorrow’s aim is to create bridges between scientists, investors and entrepreneurs in all major technological fields. And the Hello Tomorrow Challenge searches for and awards the most innovative entrepreneurs who are using technology to find solutions in six major categories: food and agriculture, transport and mobility, materials and manufacturing, healthcare, energy and the environment and information technologies.

This year’s theme is #BuildTomorrow and the challenge is open to startups and projects that fit the following criteria:

  • Is based on an innovative technology
  • Is under two years old
  • Have raised under €250 000 (R3.5 million) in funding

30 semi-finalists will go through to compete in the international competition in June and will also take part in mentoring sessions provided by hand-picked experts from a wide range of  disciplines.

Winners will be selected in each category and will be awarded €15 000 (around R215 790) while the grand prize winner will take home €100 000 (R1.4 million).

Applications for Hello Tomorrow 2015 close on 15th January, semi-finalists will be selected in March 2015 and the mentoring sessions are from then until May. Submit your application on the Hello Tomorrow website.
