Blizzard’s Hearthstone now on Android tablets

Blizzard has made good on its promise to bring Hearthstone to Android tablets with displays larger than 6 inches, with the card based strategy game having finally made its way into the Play Store for download.

Hearthstone is a free-to-play, online collectible card, strategy game similar to the likes of Magic the Gathering based in the Warcraft universe. Players build decks of cards by unlocking or buying them for real cash, which they can then use to defeat other players’ decks in a simulated battle.

The Android version of Hearthstone comes with the latest expansion pack, called Goblins vs. Gnomes, included in the download along with all 120 of its latest cards like the “Explosive Sheep” and the “Annoy-o-tron”, to be bought or won.

Hearthstone is already available on both Mac and PC computers as well as having an iPad version which was released in April this year. The good news for those who have played it on any other platform is that card collections are tied to Blizzard’s Battle.net accounts which means that your entire collection, as well as all of your decks, will be available to you as soon as you log in on your tablet.

“Hearthstone’s intuitive interface and approachable design make it a perfect fit for tablets, and we’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring players have a great experience on a wide range of Android devices,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, in a press statement. “We’re excited to welcome Android players to the Hearthstone community, and we’re looking forward to bringing the game to even more mobile platforms—including phones—in the future.”

Better news for Hearthstone addicts is that smartphone versions for Android and iPhone both in the works for 2015.
