Sony is one of the many manufacturers who make a smartwatch that runs on the Android Wear operating system with the SmaryWatch 3 that was first announced at IFA in Berlin last year. The Sony SmartWatch 3 has the ability quickly pop in and out of its interchangeable casings because of the way that it’s built but unlike some of its contemporaries it doesn’t have a metal band option for those looking for a more formal style of watch, or at least it didn’t until today.
The new metal casing for the SmartWatch 3 was shown off by some of the Sony execs at CES in Las Vegas and will go on sale soon around the world. (We’ll be trying to find out availability and will let you know as soon as we do.) For those who aren’t necessarily keen on a metal band but were thinking of jazzing up there SmartWatch 3 the other announcement made was that there would be a case that allows you to use any 24mm watch strap with a SmartWatch 3 upping the customisation cred of the watch massively.
Check out our hands-on take of the SmartWatch 3 when we got to see it last year to get an idea of what it can do as well as our review of the LG G Watch R which uses the same Android Wear operating system as the SmartWatch 3.
