Weekly Battlefield Hardline updates arrive from next week

Starting next week, EA will publish a weekly update called This Season on Battlefield: Hardline detailing behind-the-scenes snippets and cool features of the upcoming cops vs. robbers game. So says PlayStation LifeStyle.

Every Wednesday between next week and Hardline’s release on March 17th, EA will post news, mode info “and more” about the game, starting with new details on the upcoming beta test.

A version of Hardline has already been beta-tested, but that happened in 2014 and the developers have done a lot of work on the game since then, having taken full advantage of the feedback provided by those early testers and the time granted them by delaying its release from “Holiday 2014” to “early 2015”.

A letter to fans from Steve Papoutsis, Hardline’s executive producer on the official Battlefield website had this to say about the delay:

There’s no doubt moving the game back was the right call. The improvements the team has added to the game with the extra time are making Battlefield Hardline the complete first person shooter experience we set out to deliver. There’s a great story for fans of single player. Exciting new MP modes, vehicles, gadgets and weapons that add a new dimension of speed to Battlefield. All while still staying true to the thing that most sets Battlefield apart – a focus on teamplay and strategy.

The buggy release of Battlefield 4 in 2013, which led to constant revisions and updates months after that game’s release, are likely high in the minds of both EA’s bean-counters and developers, and it’s great to see that they clearly don’t want to make the same mistakes again with Hardline.

So tune in every Wednesday to see what EA has to say about the upcoming cops-and-robbers shooter, and keep an eye on the official Battlefield website to see when beta registration opens for the latest iteration of the game, which EA says will happen “for all announced platforms prior to the game’s release in early 2015”.
