Food discovery app Zomato gets Uber integration to take you to dinner in style

Date night just became easier to organise with the announcement that Uber and Zomato have teamed up to make getting to and from the restaurant even easier. Even better news is that South Africa is one of the first two countries in the world to see the mashup in action.

The new partnership will allow Zomato users to hail an Uber from within its app directing the Uber driver to the user’s current location and the desired destination with a few quick taps. Once selected, an menu pops up showing the estimated costs for each tier of Uber vehicle along with the estimated wait for the driver to arrive.

The new feature is being rolled out in London, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban right now with more cities in which both companies have a presence still to come.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to make every meal, for everyone, a great experience. We aim to do this by disrupting the global restaurant industry through product innovation and strategic partnerships such as this one,” said Pankaj Chaddah, co-founder and COO of Zomato.

“This is a huge leap forward in creating a seamless experience for users, from finding a place to eat, to getting to the restaurant in style – all in just a few taps on their smartphones.”
