LG’s G3 is the first flagship in SA to get Android Lollipop

With 2015 comes the promise of new smartphones… but for those of us who picked up one of 2014’s best mobile devices, the wait is now on to see when the latest version of Google’s Android operating system – Lollipop – will be released for your hardware.

For those who went with LG’s mighty, QHD display wielding, laser autofocus toting G3 smartphone that wait is now over. We’ve just received word from LG South Africa that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been made available as of today.

Android Lollipop brings a host of new features to the table for Android smartphone owners as well as a massive design update called Material Design.

There are three way to get the update installed on your G3

1. On your LG G3

  • Go to your apps menu
  • Update Centre
  • Software Update
  • Check now for Update
  • Install

2. Using the web updater

  • Go to http://www.lg.com/za/support-mobile/lg-D855
  • Click on Software Update and Drivers
  • Download LG Mobile Support Tool and install onto your PC
  • Connect G3 to PC using a USB cable
  • Open LG Mobile Support Tool
  • Click on Start Upgrade
