GoPro 4 update finally stitches together your time lapse images

Owners of GoPro action cameras will know what headache it is to successfully make a time lapse video. Where other cameras, like Garmin’s Virb, produce a complete video once you stop your time lapse recording, GoPros have always only taken the still image, leaving it up to the user to manually stitch them together with GoPro’s video software.

Thankfully, that is all about to change thanks to the company releasing a new firmware update for its Hero4 Silver and Black editions.

The firmware update, which will be made available to owners in February, will allow you to capture time lapse scenarios without having to do post-production on it. What that means, is once you are done, the complete time lapse video will be ready for viewing.

The firmware also gives a huge boost to rapid still photography with a new 30/6 burst photo. “Capture 30 photos in 6 seconds—perfect for longer duration fast-action activities like surfing and snowboarding,” GoPro explained in a press statement.

Another update that is specific to the Black edition, it allows you to record video in 720p at 240 frames per second; and the ability to capture cinematic, high-resolution 2.7K footage at 60 frames per second.
