Office Apps for iOS now do more within Dropbox on Android tablets

Late last year, Dropbox made it possible for iOS users to open and edit documents using Office Apps, right from within the Dropbox app. Support for Android phones was added a few weeks later.

In good news, this functionality has just been extended to all compatible Android tablets as well.

According to Dropbox’s Learn More page on the app’s new Office integration features, “you’ll see a new edit button that allows you to open your file directly in the appropriate Microsoft Office app for editing. Once you’ve finished your edits, you’ll be able to save the file back to your Dropbox.”

The official release adds the following:

When you’re inside the Office apps, sign in to your Dropbox account to:

  • Edit Office files from the Dropbox mobile app and sync changes across devices.
  • Access Dropbox files from the new Office apps and save new files to Dropbox.
  • Share Dropbox links from Office when you’ve finished making changes.
