Xbox One finally gets screenshot function

To say that taking screenshots on the Xbox is a laborious task is a bit of an understatement. Thankfully, Microsoft has said that from today, users on the Xbox Preview Program will be able to beta-test the screenshot function that the division’s head, Phil Spencer, showed off a couple of weeks ago.

The update will be made available to all users in March as part of the company’s (what seems like) monthly updates.

“While playing a game, you can now take screenshots on your Xbox One console by simply double-tapping the Xbox button on your controller to capture a screenshot and pressing Y to save the screenshot. If your Xbox One is equipped with a Kinect, you can also say “Xbox Take a Screenshot” to take and save a screenshot,” Microsoft said in a media statement.

Also a part of the update, the console will suggest a number of gamers Xbox thinks you should connect with online through Live.

“With the suggested friends feature, the Friends area in home and your friends list will help you find and add friends. Suggested friends will include people you might know, so you add more friends to game with, and top community broadcasters and clip creators, so you can get more great content in your activity feed.”

But one the nicest (although not the biggest) updates is that you can now report junk messages being sent to your inbox. The issue was highlighted over the December holiday, as a number of Xbox Live users received unsolicited spam messages.
