Apple finally unveils racially diverse emoji

In March 2014, Apple announced that it would be adding a bit of colour to its range of human emoji by introducing different races. Weeks later, Oju Africa, a Mauritius-based telecoms company beat it to the punch.

Almost a year later, Apple has finally released its diverse emoji in a beta version of OS X for developers.

The new emoji feature five skin shades representing black, Hispanic, Latin American and Asian faces with darker hair. Tapping and holding on any human emoji will open up a secondary tray that displays the different races you can choose between.
