R4.4m Dying Light Collector’s Edition includes zombie-proof house

Dying Light turned out to be a pretty good game, but is it good enough to justify a FOUR POINT FOUR MILLION RAND collector’s edition? Developer Techland appears to think so.

Ahead of Dying Light’s retail availability in Europe and South Africa on the 27th of February, the Polish studio has just detailed what it calls the “My Apocalypse” Collector’s Edition of the game for the UK that sells for a whopping £250 000.

To us here on the depressing end of a 17.74 exchange rate, that’s a truly insane R4 435 153.55.

That said, for your R4.4 million you’ll get a completely zombie-proofed house, a trip to Poland to meet the developers, lessons on how to leap around (and up and over and through) urban obstacles like Kyle Crane and a huge heap of other Dying Light goodies. Including four Steelbook copies of the game, of course, presumably on the platform of your choice.

My favourite item on the list is a human-sized Volatile figurine; those things are scary enough in the game and I can only imagine how intimidating a life-sized statue of one would look.

Here’s the full list of goodies:

  • Custom-built Dying Light Zombie Home by Tiger Log Cabins
  • Zombie avoidance parkour lessons with Ampisound, the team behind the internet smash Dying Light Parkour POV video
  • Be The Zombie match with devs where you win so you can brag to your friends how “leet” you are
  • Trip to Techland in Wroclaw, Poland, to meet the dev team and party with Steve the Zombie Consultant
  • Your face skinned onto your Night Hunter character model
  • Dying Light branded night vision goggles + adult diapers for the night portions of the game
  • x4 signed Steelbox editions of Dying Light
  • x2 Top of the line Razer Tiamat headphones
  • Human sized Volatile figurine to use as a deterrent on human raiders

As cool as this sounds, that’s a whole lot of money to spend on a game, and that’s coming from someone who absolutely adores them.

It’s not the first time a studio has offered a completely bananas Collector’s Edition, though. In 2013 Saints’ Row IV offered a $1 million Collector’s Edition that included plastic surgery, a trip on Virgin Galactic, high-end hotel stays and an actual Lamborghini Gallardo among other crazy luxuries.

Whether anyone will actually go for Techland’s offer is anyone’s guess, but if I know anything it’s that some people have more money than sense, so probably.
