GTA Online Heists causing server problems

GTA Online Heists went live yesterday and in news that will surprise anyone who’s been locked in an isolation ward for a couple of years, it’s caused a bit of havoc with Rockstar’s servers.

Players who have been trying to connect online to the game since the release of the update have reported quite a few difficulties in doing so. The problems are very reminiscent of the fracas that occurred when GTA Online first went live back in 2013.

According to gaming website Eurogamer, these problems are affecting pretty much all the console gaming platforms, but Xbox Live players have suffered the most; a lot of them are having difficulties connecting to online games, signing into their in-game profiles and even downloading content they’ve already paid for.

Rockstar has posted on its support blog that it’s aware of the problems and working on a fix.

“We are aware of some issues today with players having problems connecting to GTA Online, as well as issues with the Xbox Live service,” the publisher said in a statement. “We are working to restore full access to GTA Online as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please stay tuned to this page to monitor the performance of all platforms.”

Here’s hoping this restoration doesn’t take too long. Gamers are a feisty bunch and GTA Online players are more acerbic than most.
