Kratos coming to PlayStation 4

That’s right, everyone’s favourite God of War is coming to Sony’s console. Perhaps more surprising is the news that the game isn’t coming next year – it will be out on July 17th, 2015.

It won’t be a new game, though – it’s God of War III Remastered. That means better graphics, better sound and higher-resolution textures but all the same ultra-violence starring the biggest douchebag in gaming spurned Spartan warrior Kratos as he seeks revenge against the Gods who betrayed him.

The PlayStation blog post that broke the news says the game will be playable at 1080p and feature an “all new photo mode” in which you’ll be able to freeze-frame the action and take pictures, which you can then share with the world.

The release of the news saw Santa Monica Studios assemble a group of speedrunners, who live-streamed their attempts to motor their way through the game to see who gets the fastest time. Watch it here.

So plenty to look forward to, then. In the meantime, enjoy these screenshots and the official announcement trailer. It’s age-restricted (18), so perhaps don’t watch it at work or anywhere children may see over your shoulder.
