[htxt.africast] Force fields, Bloodborne and the future of consoles

Today’s Africast had Charlie and Deon sitting down with guest podcaster Nick Cowen and talking about cool things like force fields, whether or not games consoles as we know them are truly on their way out and a bit of Bloodborne.

Nick has been doing games journalism since the late 90s and knows a lot about a lot, and his insights on Twitch’s CEO’s comments that consoles are doomed proved fascinating. The long and the short of it: 5 years is a long time in today’s incredibly fast-paced high-tech world, and games consoles could well go the way of the smartphone, but probably won’t. Tune in to hear why.

Deon, having spent the last few days with From Software’s new not-Souls-but-Souls game, Bloodborne, talks about how it differs from the developer’s previous games, and whether it’s worth your time and effort. Spoiler alert: it totally is.

But perhaps the most interesting piece of news discussed by the team involves Boeing’s newly-granted patent for a force field. It’s not quite Star Wars yet, but it’s a step in the right direction!

All this and more await your ears in this week’s Africast, so fire it up!
