Inaugural summit to encourage Sowetan businesses to “Go Digital” 

It looks like 2015 is certainly the year for Soweto’s tech and startup sector to “stand up”, as the common slogan among youth goes, with another special innovation conference announced to take place in the Gauteng township soon.

The first ever Kasi to Kasi Go Digital Summit, organised by the South African Black Entrepreneurs Forum (SABEF) and various partners will shine the spotlight on the role of ICT in socio-economic development not only in Soweto, but in other townships around the country as well.

“Go Digital” has been tagged as the summit’s theme and will include special guests from government, business, academics and community leaders who will engage with each other and attendees on topics such as meaningful job creation and uplifting local enterprises.

The Kasi to Kasi Go Digital Summit runs from the 14th to the 16th of April at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani. Days one and two will focus on workshops, panel discussions and presentations from relevant local and regional experts and representatives from the private and public sector. A variety of inventions, technologies, products and services targeted specifically at township entrepreneurs and businesses will be showcased as well.

The last day of the summit will host the exclusive Maxum Business Incubation Program facilitated by The Innovation Hub for early and growth stage businesses in four categories mobile, smart industries, bio economy, and green economy where they will get to pitch to industry experts.
