A first-person Guitar Hero with new controllers is coming later this year

We’ve just spotted this: Guitar Hero is making a comeback, with a new game called Guitar Hero Live coming out later this year that brings with it new controllers and a renewed focus on the experience of actually playing in a band thanks to a brand-new first-person perspective.

Think you, a stage and thousands of screaming fans who react to your playing.

It will also have a mode called called Guitar Hero TV, which the official press release says is “a 24-hour mode that lets fans play along to a continually-updated collection of official music videos – across a wide variety of genres – from the newest releases to favorite hits.”

Whatever that means. It’s apparently also the game’s multiplayer mode as it somehow lets you play along with friends and strangers. Presumably more info will be coming our way soon.

Guitar Hero Live is out in “Fall 2015” for all of the consoles and mobile devices, but not PC.

An official trailer has been released, but I know even less about the game having watched it. Still, it’s intriguing – the last Guitar Hero game came out in 2011 and I could totally do with a new one.
