Love the idea of joining a buzzing hub of entrepreneurs and innovative small companies in a public space? Workshop17 is a new, fully-equipped co-working hub backed by the V&A Waterfront and operated by OPEN, and it’s currently accepting applications from prospective tenants.
And even though Workshop17 is a part of Cape Town’s ever-popular working harbour, the co-working space does not seek full commercial return, says V&A Waterfront’s CEO, David Green.
“Our plan was to create a space in which startups and experienced companies, profit and non-profit, big and small, could come together to collaborate and innovate. The space will facilitate a community of passionate, innovative and interesting people, learning and working together to create new solutions.”
Workshop17 has both drop-in and hourly rates: hot-desking starts from R1 500 per person, per month, including what the owners are touting as “super fast internet connectivity”. Rates for meeting rooms and an event space, which are also available for hire, can be obtained directly from Workshop17.
Workshop17 is not only a local hub, it also provides a landing platform and stepping stone for international players in academia and business to come into Africa and link with local talent to develop solutions for Africa which the world can see.
Applications to be accommodated in this exciting new space will be reviewed based upon an applicant’s ability to both benefit from, and contribute in a complementary manner to, the Workshop17 community.
