EA’s biggest games on sale this weekend

Should you not already own the biggest PC games in Electronic Arts’ line-up like Dragon Age: Inquisition, FIFA 15 and The Sims 4, this weekend is a good time to snap them up as they can be bought for quite a good discount from EA’s Origin storefront.

These games and a few others are currently on sale for a 33% discount off their full retail prices, and unusually EA is allowing a further 25% discount on top of that if you use a special promo code – ORIGIN25 – during the checkout process.

As Dragon Age: Inquisition can be had for R399 versus its usual R599, with a further 25% discount on top of that, it’s no surprise that some Reddit posters are of the opinion that EA is doing this intentionally to challenge sales of CD Projeckt’s upcoming  The Witcher 3, another hotly-anticipated open-world RPG, which releases on the 19th of May.

The timing of the sale lends some credence to the theory, but I’m not sure significant numbers of gamers will be lured away from The Witcher 3 as a result. It’s a different kind of open-world role-playing game, focusing on lone Witcher Geralt and third-person combat rather than a party of adventurers and strategic combat with the option to pause.

Still, cheap games are never bad news, especially when they’re this good. If you’re interested, the sale is on until the 12th of May.
