Arena-based zombie slaughter stars in Dying Light DLC

The 26th of May sees the release of Dying Light’s first big expansion pack. It’s called Bozak’s Horde, and it pits you and up to three friends against waves of zombies in an arena setting.

You could play it entirely on your own, but developer Techland told Gamespot that it will challenge “even a team of four seasoned survivors.” Which is fantastic, as I maxed out my character in my first playthrough.

Apparently, someone called Bozak has captured you, attached some sort of ankle-bracelet tracker thing to your leg and forced you into fighting in his arena, set up in that huge stadium visible during the second half of the main game that you never got to visit.

You’ll get new weapons to dispatch the new zombies with (that double-barrelled shottie looks pretty sweet), and should you make it to the end you’ll be rewarded with a powerful compound bow that was visible in the teaser trailer put out by Techland a few months back. It offers new ways to kill zombies from stealth (and range), but also different arrow types – including exploding ones – that let you go loud should you want to.

Take a look at the trailer below; it’s a little light on actual zombies and there’s no sign of the drivable vehicles we were teased with back in March, but it’s promising nonetheless.

The DLC is out on all Dying Light platforms (Xb1, PS4, PC) on May 26, and will cost $9.99 (R120).
