Ferreira was responsible for all business units and regional offices across Africa, and was also tasked with constructing a five-year plan for Samsung Africa on how to achieve the goals set out by Samsung’s head office in South Korea.

He has been with Samsung Africa in the role of VP and COO for just over five years, and prior to him joining the Korean company he served as enterprise business unit lead at Microsoft for almost 11 years.

Samsung’s most recent results published for the global company showed a decline in profits of 32% year-on-year for 2014. Ferriera told journalists in December that growth in Africa hadn’t been on a par with previous years, although it’s not known if this was related to his departure.

According Samsung Africa,  Ferreira left the company to pursue other interests, and no replacement has been announced yet.
