Following on from the high-profile leak of the first four episodes of the hugely-popular Game of Thrones’ season 5 last month, another leak has unleashed the pilot episode of CBS’ Supergirl onto the internet – six months before it will to be officially aired.

According to torrent news website Torrent Freak, the pilot episode is only due to hit the small screen in November, but two torrent uploaders were locked in a race to see who could upload the first episode the fastest.

“Two ‘Scene’ release groups – DiMENSiON and LOL – competed to premiere the title first this morning, with the latter beating the former by around 90 seconds. LOL’s version is a convenient 400mb so likely to become the most sought after copy. On the other hand DiMENSiON’s is more than 15 times the size, but for 1080p connoisseurs it’ll be worth the wait,” Torrent Freak explains.

For those that don’t know, Supergirl is the female equivalent of Superman (who is also her cousin), and thus also comes from the planet Krypton. Kara Zor-El, played by Glee actress Melissa Benoist, escaped from Krypton amid its destruction years ago together with Clark Kent.

According to CBS, the series portrays the adventures of the now-24-year-old as she “finally embraces her superhuman abilities to be the hero she was always meant to be.”

At the time of the GoT leak, the episodes proved to be so popular that it was downloaded 1.5 million times in first 24 hours. It is unclear if this leak will reach the same proportions, but CBS will more than likely put an end to it well before it gains any real traction.

“Whether more episodes of Supergirl will leak online in the days to come is unknown but in any event it seems likely that CBS will try to stem the current tide. The company is a prolific sender of DMCA takedown notices and regularly sends more than 100,000 each week to Google alone,” Torrent Freak wrote.
