This transforming PC case is only missing an Autobot badge

Gaming PC cases haven’t exactly been on the forefront of technological innovation, but there have been some notable exceptions where designers have gone out of their way to create something truly extraordinary.

The latest example of this of was stumbled upon by the folks over at Engadget, who found this amazing case at the Computex exhibition in Taipei: a PC case that opens up completely using hydraulics to reveal the hardware within.

Engadget says the case came about through a collaboration between ASUS Republic of Gamers and case-maker In Win, and it’s truly astounding. Watch it unfurl below:

What makes this so special is not only that owning it would be like having your own Transformers as a desktop, but the fact that the chassis rises up and eventually settles in a horizontal position. This gives the owner full and easy access to the PC’s insides, which is exactly what any hardcore gamer needs as they’re likely swapping components on a regular basis.

Engadget says ASUS is actually planning to sell the case to the public at some point, but there’s no word on pricing, its name (Hard Drive if it’s an Autobot and Mega Bite if it’s a Decepticon) or release date yet.

Still, that’s pretty cool, no?
