Vodacom launches R800 Smart 6 phone, comes with free 100MB per month

Vodacom has just unveiled a new low-cost smartphone called the Smart 6, an Android 4.4 mobile made to suit almost anyone’s pocket at just R799.

The Smart 6 is the latest in the mobile network’s range of Android smartphones with a price tag under R1 000, the likes of which includes the Smart Kicka and the Smart Mini (Vodacom’s first R799 phone launched in 2013).

The new 3G Smart 6 comes with 100MB free data on prepaid for six months, it also offers free access to the Vodacom eSchool learning material program for high school children. This offer will run until November 2015 and will be active as long as you keep using the activated SIM card in the phone.

Weighing in at a light 112g, the Smart 6 is WiFi enabled, has a 4-inch, 400×800 pixel screen, 4GB internal storage, a MicroSD card slot, 512MB RAM, a 2MP rear-facing camera with no front-facing camera (meaning you’ll have to take selfies the old-fashioned way), and a battery that gives you up seven hours of talk time and 15 hours on standby.

“The Smart 6 is one of our best value-for-money, high performance smartphone that will enable more of our customers to join the mobile data revolution,” Vodacom’s managing executive of terminals, Davide Tacchino said in a statement.

If you’d prefer to get the Smart 6 on contract, it is available on uChoose flexi 110 for R99 a month.
