Catch an UberX cab for 20 per cent cheaper this month

Uber is celebrating its first UberX service anniversary by reducing fares during the month of June.

UberX offers slightly less luxurious but equally comfortable rides at cheaper prices (R6 per kilometre) compared to the original UberBlack service.

Throughout the month of June, all UberX fares around the country will cost you 20% less. So for example a trip from Sandton to the OR Tambo International Airport will now cost you R203 and a trip from the Cape Town city centre to the international airport will be just R190.

Uber is also running a promo that’s open to all customers. Users can get a free ride up to R150 whenever they share the #DitchYourKeys promotional code on social media and have a new customer use it to catch their first trip.

The company says there’s also a chance that the 20% less offer may be extended to July if more and more people take advantage of it.

You can download the Uber app for Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
