Real GTA V brings Los Santos to life

This fantastic live-action video not only captures the visual style of Grand Theft Auto V, but the spirit too thanks to some incredible camera work and a clear understanding of what makes the game so great.

Check it out, and marvel at how impressive it is to see a production company make real life look as good as a video game. Also, at just how accurately Rockstar modelled Los Angeles to create Grand Theft Auto V’s Los Santos.

And in case you’re wondering about that sterling soundtrack, it’s Carpenter Brut’s “Paradise Warfare”.

This video was shot by a small production company called Corridor Digital, made up of a team that specialises in making movie-quality YouTube videos on a shoestring budget, complete with professional visual effects. This clip is just one of several that can be found on their channel which you can watch right now, for free.

Corridor says they make a modest sum of cash from their YouTube vids, but that it’s all ploughed back into production costs so they can make more.

This video should help quite a bit, as it’s reached over 3.2 million people in the day it’s been live, which at one dollar per thousand clicks means they’ve made a little over $30 000. That translates to over R375 000 by today’s (dismal) exchange rate; not too shabby, then.

Should you like what you see – and who wouldn’t – the company has a campaign going over on Patreon.com, where you can contribute some of your own ZARs to keep them in movie-making funds.
