If you are a frequent flyer between Cape Town and Johannesburg, you’ll be happy to know that a new app has been launched an app to easily book flights on the route, which is one of the busiest in the world.

Created by local travel booking site, Travelstart, Flapp (short for “flight app”), much like most flight-booking apps, lists airlines and airfares, flight times and airport details.

“As more carriers take off, the local airline industry is seeing a shift in power back into the hands of travellers. Passengers’ purchasing behaviours have evolved and Flapp is a direct response to this evolution, offering a rewarding and niche tool for today’s travellers,” said TravelStart spokesperson Russell Jarvis.

You can make same-day booking up to two hours before a flight and your credit card details can be saved on the app to allow to book flights more quickly in future. According to the company’s head of innovation, Sergio Mello, all booking processes are completely secure.

“43% of passengers who flew between Johannesburg and Cape Town (and vice versa) in the last year booked their flights less than a week before they departed, while more than 90% paid for their booking with a Credit Card. Flapp caters for these travellers by offering a 7 day window of fares bookable for the week ahead,” TravelStart said.

Flapp is available for download for Android and iOS.
