Hotline Miami composor says “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” lifted his music

M|O|O|N, an electronic musician from Boston, has claimed that “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” has stolen music he produced for the game Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

In a post on his site, M|O|O|N (real name Stephen Gilarde) claims that in the ninth episode of the tenth season of the show, at the four minute, fifty-five second mark, a song plays during a scene transition… and it sounds very familiar.

Stephen claims the song is his, a track called Dust that has appeared in the Hotline Miami franchise – games that are equally popular for their amazing soundtracks as they are for their fast-paced, violent gameplay.

Below you’ll find the part of the show in question followed by the official Dust song. Please note that the clip of the show provided is unofficial and may be taken down.

“I can’t sue them, because I can’t afford it. Which the music supervisor probably knew,” says Gilarde on his blog. “All in all this has largely stopped making me angry and has transitioned into being kind of funny because of the particular show it was, but it’s still kind of a bummer too.”

In unrelated news, you should definitely play the two Hotline Miami games.
