Google launches Ramadan Companion for the Holy Month

Yesterday, 18th June, signaled the beginning of the month of Ramadan for Muslims around the world. To help observe all activities and keep in touch with what’s happening during this period, Google has launched the Ramadan Companion portal.

Available for desktop and mobile, Ramadan Companion features entertainment in the form of a Ramadan YouTube series and videos, meal recipes and customised, locally relevant tips, news and information.

Ramadan Companion will also notify you of the sunrise and sunset times in whichever location you’re in, and this can be particularly helpful for those travelling outside their country to places with different time zones and seasons.

It’ll also help you plan your daily route with traffic updates around your area and if you find any interesting content you’d like to pass on to your friends and family, you can simply share the links from Ramadan Companion via social media.

Google also has a range of Ramadan apps available on the Play Store that will notify you when it’s time for Suhur (the meal eaten just before dawn when fasting begins) or prayer time, help keep your health and fitness in check, provide you with recipes to whip up delicious meals and more.

The month of Ramadan officially ends on Friday 17th July, culminating with the festival of Eid ul-Fitr.
