Are you an aspiring video game developer? Have you been working on a video game and are just dying to show it off to more people?

Well you’re in luck, as submissions for this year’s AMAZE are now open.

“A MAZE./ Johannesburg is specifically interested in experimental and subversive work, but all playful projects will be considered,” reads a missive from the AMAZE Tumblr account.

The project is part of the city-wide Fak’ugesi – Digital Africa Festival, and will be running from 9th to 12th September in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

A MAZE. / Johannesburg 2015 has been divided up into four categories:

  • Game – eg. experimental, digital, mobile, physical, tabletop, or any other
  • Installation – eg. interactive digital with a playful ethos
  • Workshop – eg game design, technical, professional, experimental
  • Talk – any inspiring game or play related topics (no money talks or pitches)

For more information, go to the games and playful installations page, the student page, the workshop page or the official website.

Charlie started his professional life as a motoring journalist for a community newspaper in Mpumalanga, Charlie explored different journalistic angles since his entry into the fast-paced world of publishing in 2006. While fostering a passion for the arts, Charlie developed a love for technology – both which allowed him to serve as Entertainment and Technology Editor for an online publication. Charlie has since been heavily involved in consumer technology for various websites and publications. He thoroughly enjoys World War II films and cerebral documentaries; aviation; photography and indie music. Oh yes, and he also has a rather strange obsession with collecting coffee mugs from his travels.
