Edward Snowden is now a  household name for releasing swathes of documents on the spying of various government organisations.

To little surprise, it has gathered the attention of Hollywood, and none other than super-director Oliver Stone. To be honest, we’re actually a little shocked that it took this long.

Now Edward Snowden is the subject of a film, imaginatively entitled Snowden: An Oliver Stone Film, and we’re guessing it will focus on Snowden’s document leaks. It is also based on two books: The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena.

In case you were wondering, the role of Snowden will be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Levitt, you may recall was the star of such films as Looper, Brick, Premium Rush and Inception. He also looks nothing like Edward Snowden.

In any case, the trailer is below:

Charlie started his professional life as a motoring journalist for a community newspaper in Mpumalanga, Charlie explored different journalistic angles since his entry into the fast-paced world of publishing in 2006. While fostering a passion for the arts, Charlie developed a love for technology – both which allowed him to serve as Entertainment and Technology Editor for an online publication. Charlie has since been heavily involved in consumer technology for various websites and publications. He thoroughly enjoys World War II films and cerebral documentaries; aviation; photography and indie music. Oh yes, and he also has a rather strange obsession with collecting coffee mugs from his travels.
