Rise Of The Tomb Raider PS4 outed by Australian retailer

If you’re a PS4 owner who has been grinding their teeth over the fact that Rise Of The Tomb Raider isn’t coming to your console, an retailer Down Under may have just proffered a glimmer of hope.

Australian retailer Harvey Norman has put up a pre-order page for Rise Of The Tomb Raider, specifically for the PS4 platform, priced at AUS$88 (roughly R816).

The marketing blurb on the site says players will enter into “a dark world Lara Croft is forged into a survivor in the Rise of Tomb Raider . In an attempt to understand what she’s witnessed Lara delves deeper into the mysteries of the Lost City and attracts the attention of a dangerous shadow organisation. For PlayStation 4.”

The listing doesn’t offer an release date at present, but the information there will probably be of interest to Sony fanboys (and girls) for a couple of reasons. First, while the sequel to 2013’s gritty reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise is currently a timed exclusive on Xbox One, there’s been no confirmation from its publisher Square Enix about whether was ever going to land to PS4. The listing seems to suggest that it will.

Second, erroneous listings are usually pulled quite quickly by retailers at the behest of publishers, and it’s been a full day since Harvey Norman’s page went up.

So reading between the lines, the smart money is on Rise Of The Tomb Raider eventually coming to PS4. We just don’t know when. And neither Sony nor Square Enix seem to be willing to impart this information…yet.
